Lyrics!

Grrr! I already wrote all this, but I deleted it some how, and now I'm rewriting it. Don't you hate that?

So I've been told I have a "trendy" taste in music, which isn't completley true. I have a more underground taste then others, and a more mainstream taste then others. Either way, I hate labels and I like what I like. and to all you music snobs out there, just becuase sometimes I sing along to a few avril songs, doesn't mean I've never heard of your favorite band. Music is my life, I like all types from every era. I don't descriminate!

Anyway, you heard it here first! a music snob herself is confessing her favorite lyrics, no matter how "trendy" they might be. and look out for my "comments" at the bottom of each song.

Tool - The Patient

A groan of tedium escapes me,
Startling the fearful.
Is this a test It has to be,
Otherwise I can't go on.
Draining patience, drain vitality.
This paranoid, paralyzed vampire act's a little old.

But I'm still right here
Giving blood, keeping faith
And I'm still right here.

Wait it out,
Gonna wait it out,
Be patient (wait it out).

If there were no reward to (reap / heal),
(No / A) loving embrace to see me through
This tedious path I've chosen here,
I certainly would've walked away by now.
Gonna wait it out.

If there were no desire to heal
A damaged and broken man along
This tedious path I've chosen here
I certainly would've walked away by now.

And I still may ... [sigh] ... I still may.

Be patient.
I must keep reminding myself of this.

And if there were no rewards to (reap / heal),
(No / A) loving embrace to see me through
This tedious path I've chosen here,
I certainly would've walked away by now.
And I still may.

Gonna wait it out.

this song is very fitting, both in my line of work, as well as my personal relationships.

Fiona Apple - Paper Bag

I was staring at the sky, just looking for a star
To pray on, or wish on, or something like that
I was having a sweet fix of a daydream of a boy
Whose reality I knew, was a hopeless to be had
But then the dove of hope began its downward slope
And I believed for a moment that my chances
Were approaching to be grabbed
But as it came down near, so did a weary tear
I thought it was a bird, but it was just a paper bag
Hunger hurts, and I want him so bad, oh it kills
'Cause I know I'm a mess he don't wanna clean up
I got to fold 'cause these hands are too shaky to hold
Hunger hurts, but starving works, when it costs too much to love
And I went crazy again today, looking for a strand to climb
Looking for a little hope
Baby said he couldn't stay, wouldn't put his lips to mine,
And a fail to kiss is a fail to cope
I said, 'Honey, I don't feel so good, don't feel justified
Come on put a little love here in my void,' he said
'It's all in your head,' and I said, 'So's everything'
But he didn't get it I thought he was a man
But he was just a little boy
Hunger hurts, and I want him so bad, oh it kills
'Cause I know I'm a mess he don't wanna clean up
I got to fold 'cause these hands are too shaky to hold
Hunger hurts, but starving works, when it costs too much to love
Hunger hurts, and I want him so bad, oh it kills
'Cause I know I'm a mess he don't wanna clean up
I got to fold 'cause these hands are too shaky to hold
Hunger hurts, but starving works, when it costs too much to love

please dont make me explain this one. lol

Jewel - Hands

If I could tell the world just one thing
It would be that we're all OK
And not to worry 'cause worry is wasteful
And useless in times like these
I won't be made useless
I won't be idle with despair
I will gather myself around my faith
For light does the darkness most fear
My hands are small, I know
But they're not yours, they are my own
But they're not yours, they are my own
And I am never broken
Poverty stole your golden shoes
It didn't steal your laughter
And heartache came to visit me
But I knew it wasn't ever after
We'll fight, not out of spite
For someone must stand up for what's right
'Cause where there's a man who has no voice
There ours shall go singing
My hands are small I know
But they're not yours, they are my own
But they're not yours, they are my own
I am never broken
In the end only kindness matters
In the end only kindness matters
I will get down on my knees, and I will pray
I will get down on my knees, and I will pray
I will get down on my knees, and I will pray
My hands are small I know
But they're not yours, they are my own
But they're not yours, they are my own
And I am never broken
My hands are small I know
But they're not yours, they are my own
But they're not yours, they are my own
And I am never broken
We are never broken
We are God's eyes
God's hands
God's mind
We are God's eyes
God's hands
God's heart
We are God's eyes
God's hands
God's eyes
We are God's hands
We are God's hands

all my friends groan when I talk about Jewel. But they don't understand. I've done alot of bad things in my life. I don't think I'm a good person. I've also done alot of stupid things in my life, and I should be dead. But I'm not. So I try to live my life by this song. "in the end, only kindness matters" I believe that.

Type O Negative - Too Late: Frozen

So you've come to say you're very sorry.
"It won't happen again - forgive me?"
Time will not heal these wounds.
And I'm bleeding because of you.

Was everything we had just a joke?
I've run out of patience, tears and hope.
Love does not conquer all.
And I'm screaming because of you.

Too late for apologies.

In the shadow of the light from a black sun.
Frigid statue standing icy blue and numb.
Where are the frost giants I've begged for protection?
I'm freezing.

Cold winter winds that chill my heart with sleet & snow.
Not from the north come to this glacial abode.
But from your dimension cryogenic limbo.
I'm freezing.
I'm frozen.
It's too late.

So maybe it's not journalistic perfection. It takes me back to a better time. I'll never forget that summer..

Paul Oakenfold - Southern Sun

Piece by piece
I release
Once was mine
Now undone
Turned blue
like New Orleans
And went down like
A southern sun

I still feel you
Beneath my skin
I am tempted
To throw my senses in

Cos it's easier to fly
Than to face another night
In Southern Sun
And your love is all around

Piece by piece
I release
Once was mine
Now undone
Turned blue like New
Orleans
And went down like
A southern sun

I still feel you
Beneath my skin
I am tempted
To throw my senses in

Cos it's easier to fly
Than to face another night
In Southern Sun
And your love is all around
In the air to set me free

Set me free

You last like a song
I'm deflated
I am pieces on the wind
Unrelated

Cos it's easier to fly
Than to face another night
In southern sun
And your love is all around
In the air to set me free

Cos it's easier to fly
Than to face another night
In southern sun
And your love is all around
In the air to set me free

this one was more about the music then the lyrics. Back in my "raver" days (a label I know :) I got really into Paul Oakenfold. I love all his music, but this was my favorite song from a very under rated album called "bunkka".

Tupac Shakur - Changes

[1]
Come on come on
I see no changes wake up in the morning and I
ask myself
is life worth living should I blast myself?
I'm tired of bein'
poor & even worse I'm black
my stomach hurts so I'm lookin' for a purse
to snatch
Cops give a damn about a negro
pull the trigger kill a nigga
he's a hero
Give the crack to the kids who the hell cares
one less hungry
mouth on the welfare
First ship 'em dope & let 'em deal the
brothers
give 'em guns step back watch 'em kill each other
It's time to
fight back that's what Huey said
2 shots in the dark now Huey's dead
I got
love for my brother but we can never go nowhere
unless we share with each
other
We gotta start makin' changes
learn to see me as a brother instead
of 2 distant strangers
and that's how it's supposed to be
How can the
Devil take a brother if he's close to me?
I'd love to go back to when we
played as kids
but things changed, and that's the way it is

[Bridge
w/ changing ad libs]
Come on come on
That's just the way it
is
Things'll never be the same
That's just the way it is
aww
yeah
[Repeat]

[2]
I see no changes all I see is
racist faces
misplaced hate makes disgrace to races
We under I wonder what
it takes to make this
one better place, let's erase the wasted
Take the
evil out the people they'll be acting right
'cause both black and white is
smokin' crack tonight
and only time we chill is when we kill each other
it
takes skill to be real, time to heal each other
And although it seems heaven
sent
We ain't ready, to see a black President, uhh
It ain't a secret don't
conceal the fact
the penitentiary's packed, and it's filled with
blacks
But some things will never change
try to show another way but you
stayin' in the dope game
Now tell me what's a mother to do
bein' real
don't appeal to the brother in you
You gotta operate the easy way
"I made
a G today" But you made it in a sleazy way
sellin' crack to the kid. " I
gotta get paid,"
Well hey, well that's the way it
is

[Bridge]

[Talking:]
We gotta make a
change...
It's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes.
Let's
change the way we eat, let's change the way we live
and let's change the way
we treat each other.
You see the old way wasn't working so it's on us to
do
what we gotta do, to survive.

[3]
And still I see no
changes can't a brother get a little peace
It's war on the streets & the
war in the Middle East
Instead of war on poverty they got a war on
drugs
so the police can bother me
And I ain't never did a crime I ain't
have to do
But now I'm back with the blacks givin' it back to you
Don't
let 'em jack you up, back you up,
crack you up and pimp slap you up
You
gotta learn to hold ya own
they get jealous when they see ya with ya mobile
phone
But tell the cops they can't touch this
I don't trust this when they
try to rush I bust this
That's the sound of my tool you say it ain't
cool
my mama didn't raise no fool
And as long as I stay black I gotta stay
strapped
& I never get to lay back
'Cause I always got to worry 'bout
the pay backs
some buck that I roughed up way back
comin' back after all
these years
rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat that's the way it is uhh

[Bridge
'til fade]

this song also reminds me of a better time. It also has great lyrics and The beautiful piano that I love to play doesn't hurt the song either.

Marilyn Manson - Down in the Park

Down in the park
Where the machmen meet the machines
And play `kill-by-numbers'
Down in the park with a friend called `five'

I was in a car crash
Or was it the war
But I've never been quite the same
Little white lies like "I was there"

Come to "zom-zom's" a place to eat
Like it was built in one day
You can watch the humans
Trying to run

Oh look there's a rape machine
I'd go outside if he'd look the other way
You wouldn't believe
The things they do

(CHORUS)
"We are not lovers
We are not romantics
We are here to serve you"
A different face but the words never change

Down in the park
Where the chant is "death, death"
Until the sun cries morning
Down in the park with friends of mine

I used to listen to this song on repeat while I tripped acid and spaced out.
sometimes I was convinced it was real. I don't know if that did some kind of damage, but I will never shed this song from any playlist. memories. *sigh* flashbacks. *sigh*

Cold - Ugly

All the world loves things of beauty and intrigue
These 2 things I've never had one
Born in this old skin. I'm too sick I can't win
I've lived with this damage 2 long
My eyes can't behold it I cannot control
This this feeling that's left in my heart
I've never done no wrong. I don't deserve these bones
Please burn up this sin when I'm gone
And I said that this is ugly to me
The world is ugly to me
You are ugly to me
And I am ugly to me

I haven't become all I want to be
I haven't become anything I need to be
I haven't become all I want to be Suffocate with me
I haven't become anything
Suffer

Why can't you look, why can't you look at me
See what I see
Why can't you feel, why can't you feel like
Me feel what I feel
Why can't you hurt, why can't you hurt like me
Taste the pain I feel
Why must I die, why must I die for you
It's the ugly truth Well it's ugly
It's making me painless

this song is so beautiful to me. I've always felt like cold was my little "diamond in the rough" everyone assumes it's "trendy" so nobody REALLY gives it a chance. so really it's anything but that.

A Perfect Circle - 3 Libra's

threw you the obvious and you flew
with it on your back, a name in your recollection,
thrown down among a million same.
difficult not to feel a little bit disappointed
and passed over
when i've looked right through
to see you naked and oblivious
and
you don't see me.but i threw you the obvious
just to see if there's more behind the eyes
of a fallen angel,
the eyes of a tragedy.
here i am expecting just a little bit
too much from the wounded.
but i see through it all
and see you.
so i threw you the obvious
to see what occurs behind the eyes of a fallen angel,
eyes of a tragedy.
oh well. apparently nothing.
you don't see me.
you don't see me at all

a guy I once knew, a very nice guy once told me he thinks of me when he hears this song, and listens to it often. Before I made my choice, he was gone. but I still have this song.

More to come :)
